The Advent Antiphons

O Wisdom,you come forth
   from the mouth of the Most High;
   you fill the universe
   and hold all things together with gentle strength:
Come and teach us the way of truth.
Come, Lord Jesus.
O Adonai and Leader of Israel,
   you appeared to Moses in a burning bush
   and gave him the law on Sinai:
Come and set us free with your mighty power.
Come, Lord Jesus.
O stock of Jesse,
   you stand as an ensign for the nations;
   kings fall silent before you
   whom the nations long for:
Come and deliver us without delay.
Come, Lord Jesus.
O key of David and Sceptre of Israel,
   what you open no one can close,
   and what you close one one can open:
Come and deliver the captive from prison;
   free those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
Come, Lord Jesus.
O Risen Sun,
   you are the splendour of eternal light
   and the sun on righteousness:
Come and enlighten those who sit in darkness
  and in the shadow of death.
Come, Lord Jesus.
O King of the nations and their desire,
   you are the cornerstone which makes both one:
Come and save man you formed from clay.
Come, Lord Jesus.
O Emmanuel, you are our King and our Judge,
   the one for whom the nations yearn and their Saviour:
Come and save, our Lord and God.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Sarum Breviary, liturgy of the English Church prior to the Book of Common Prayer

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
    from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
    the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
    the Spirit of counsel and of might,
    the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—
and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
