Lord Jesus, in this advent season
we remember how you entered this world.
We remember the meeting of Mary and Elizabeth
both miraculously pregnant.
And we remember how John the Baptist leaped for joy
in Elizabeth’s womb.
Be pleased to meet with us, that we too
might leap for joy with John the Baptist
exuberantly as we anticipate
your birth
your blessing
your deliverance.
Be pleased to inhabit our expressions of praise
to the glory of your name.

_______________
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the baby leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
In a loud voice she exclaimed:
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the child you will bear!
But why am I so favored,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
