Lord Jesus Christ,
as we know that your cross was once lifted in public derision,
help us on this of all days to picture your high exaltation
over everything, everywhere, always;
and to rejoice that our hearts may be lifted
and drawn to you now,
so that we may dwell in you and you in us;
till you bring us to the place you have gone to prepare for us.

When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
