Three pairs of shoes by Vincent van Gogh, via Wikimedia Commons
Lord, take the shoes off this Church
not only physically, outwardly, actually, but inwardly also.
Lord, take the shoes off this Church-
the shoes of pride and of fear, complacency and factionalism.
Lord, take the shoes off this Church
that the quality of its worship may touch the whole life of this people:
And to this end, put the shoes on this Church that it may
go out to serve all men and women everywhere, Lord.

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
This is a great match between art and prayer.
