Lord, help us to resist the temptation
which money presents.
Help those with financial problems and debts
to avoid dishonest and corrupt ways.
Help us all not to be influenced
by the materialistic standards of other countries.
Help us not to envy
those who are better off than ourselves.
Help us to close the gap
between rich and poor in our own country.
Guide all managers and directors
of large business concerns
that they may have steadiness of purpose
and do what is lawful and right.
Strengthen our faith and courage
to face evil and corruption.

dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!
What a riveting picture of contrast. How can anyone with a conscience live in luxury overlooking that scene? I’ve experienced just a small taste of that in the PI as at one point we lived in a home with a wall and had a small compound of squatters living a stone’s throw away. But I was friends with them, played ball together, and hired them for a variety of services.
