I give you my whole self

Lord Jesus,
I give you my hands to do your work.
I give you my feet to go your way.
I give you me eyes to see as you see.
I give you my tongue to speak your words.
I give you my mind that you may think in me.
I give you my spirit that you may pray in me.
Above all, I give you my heart that you may love in me
   your Father, and all humankind.
I give you my whole self that you may grow in me,
so that it is you, Lord Jesus, who live and work and pray in me.
I hand over to your care, Lord,
   my soul and my body,
   my prayers and my hopes,
   my health and my work,
   my life and my death,
   my parents and my family,
   my friends and my neighbors,
   my country and all people.
Today and always.

The Complete Book of Christian Prayer, adapted and freely modified

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect,
but I press on to make it my own,
because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own.
But one thing I do:
   forgetting what lies behind
and straining forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize
of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  1. This prayer reminds me of a discipline espoused by the late Dallas Willard who would fall on his face before God and intentionally give every part of his being to the Lord.
