Saint Margaret of Antioch, By Felice Brusasorci aka Felice Riccio (1542 Verona 1605) [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
O Lord God, Ruler of heaven and of the earth,
Creator of all things visible and invisible,
Giver of eternal life, and the Consoler of the sorrowful,
make me stand firm in the confession of your name
that as with your aid I have begun the good fight,
so with your aid I may be considered worthy to gain the victory,
lest the adversary spitefully mock at me saying:
“Where now is her God in whom she trusted!”
But let the angel of your light come and restore to me
the light which the darkness of my cell has taken from me;
and let the right hand of your majesty scatter
the phantom hosts of the ancient enemy.
For we know, O Lord,
that your mercy will aid us in all temptations.
