We thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, King of Glory,
that you have called us to be your people.
Help us to know the greatness of our calling,
so that we, having one spirit of faith and love,
may live in the world as a new and holy generation.
May your eternal and righteous will
be always before our eyes
so that in soberness and vigilance
we may await your time,
and witness to your promises,
until your kingdom comes.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
I heard someone who had just been to John Ortberg’s church last Sunday- Menlo Church. The elders apparently asked him to scrap his planned message and speak on how to live in unity in the midst of divided ideologies and political leanings. Like other churches, theirs is being affected by the current political climate. May we live in love and unity.
