Take from us, O God, the care of worldly vanities;
make us content with the necessities.
Keep our hearts from delighting
in honors, treasures, and pleasures of this life,
and create in us a desire
to be with you in your eternal kingdom.
Give us, O Lord, such taste and feeling
for the unspeakable joys in heaven,
that we may always long after,
and saying, with all the people,
‘Hasten your kingdom, O Lord, take us to yourself’
for the sake of Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns, ever one God,
world without end. Amen.

If then you have been raised with Christ,
seek the things that are above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things that are above,
not on things that are on earth.
For you have died,
and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is your life appears,
then you also will appear with him in glory.
