I am always and forever yours, O God.
If you cast me out, who will take me in?
If you disregard me, who will consider me?
You forgive more sin that I can commit;
   you have more mercy that I have offenses.
Do not let harmful pleasures overcome me;
   at least do not let any perverse habit overwhelm me.
From evil and harmful desires;
   from vain, cruel, and impure imaginations;
   from the illusions of the devil
   and from dangers to my soul and body;
Good Lord, deliver me. Amen.

Lancelot Andrewes, 1555 – 1626, English bishop, oversaw the KJV translation

Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
    I have no good apart from you.”
