God our deliverer,
whose approaching birth
still shakes the foundations of our world,
may we so wait for your coming
with eagerness and hope
that we embrace without terror
the labor pangs of the new age,

Beautifully put. There is much in today’s world that can stir our hearts, but as I was reminded last Sunday, the very name, “Wonderful Counselor”, is not in the vain of a therapist, but means that our God is a planner, who is executing his divine plan through the ages. All that is taking place is within the sphere of his control and part of the outworking of his perfect blueprint.
