God the Father by Cima da Conegliano via Wikimedia commons
O God, how good you are to allow us to call you “our Father”!
Not only do you allow it, you command it.
What gratitude, what joy, what love, and above all,
what confidence it inspires in me.
And since you are so good to me, I should be good to others.
You are Father to all people,
so I should feel like a loving brother toward everyone,
however wicked he may be.
Our Father. our Father,
teach me to have your name continually on my lips.
Charles de Foucauld, 1 1858 – 1916, French Catholic priest, lived with Saharan people
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
