Parable of the Unjust Judge, John Everett Millais [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
Never let us give up praying
for justice,
so the oppressed in this world
will not ask us one day, ‘Why?’
Never let us give up praying
for fairness,
so the hungry of this world
will not ask us one day, ‘Why?’
Never let us give up praying
for healing,
so the sick in this world
will not ask us one day, ‘Why?’
Never let us give up praying
for salvation,
so the lost in this world
will not ask us one day, ‘Why?’
Never let us give up praying,
for to give up
would be to deny our faith
in you, God, who answers prayer.
after John Birch, Methodist lay minister in Wales

And will not God bring about justice
for his chosen ones,
who cry out to him day and night?
Will he keep putting them off?
I tell you, he will see that they get justice,
and quickly.
Eric, I commend you for this labor of love and for the way that each prayer, carefully selected highlights the truth of the passage and ministers to my soul. Thank you.
