Increase our faith

For your blessing we thank you, God.
Faith in you, increase it, we beg,
so that we no longer doubt.
Drive out all our miserliness,
so that we do not refuse you anything.
Increase our faith,
for the sake of those without faith.
Make us instruments of your faith,
for those with only a little.
Fill our bodies with faith,
our bodies that work for you all our days.
Help us to avoid the enemies of our faith,
    or to overcome them.

You are with us in confrontations; this we believe.
In your hands we place ourselves, and are secure.
Make haste to enter our hearts; make haste.

Prayers Encircling the World: An International Anthology

Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him,  and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

  1. For some reason, today’s prayer by a brother or sister in Tanzania caught my attention. The prayers of believers from around the world have always struck me with their depth and faith in an all-loving and all-sovereign God. It will be interesting to see how their modern-day prayers will be shaped by the coming climate crisis that will impact their countries and daily lives much earlier than in the West.
